SO AND SUCH

     1) SO

     O advérbio so significa "tão" e é usado diante de adjetivos ou de outro advérbios.

Exemplos:
The baby-sitter is so patient with the children.

He speaks English so well. Are you sure he's not British?

2) SUCH
    
Such também pode significar "tão" e deve ser usado quando o adjetivo é seguido de substantivo.
Se o substantivo é um count noun no singular, usa-se such a or such an.
Quando se trata de mass noun, usa-se somente such.
Exemplo:
This is such a heavy box (that) I'm afraid I can't carry it.

We haven1t had such an enjoyable afternoon in years.

Our neighbors are such nice people!

Quando o substantivo não está precedido  de adjetivo, such significa "tal,tais"
Exemplo:

We have never heard of such a thing!
How does the baby-sitter manage to treat the children with such patiente?


SO MUCH / SO MANY

Diante de much ou many usa-se so para indicar "tanto(a). tantos(as), mesmo que much  e many estejam acompanhados de substantivo.

Exemplos:
He usually drinks so much beer"
She made so many mistakes (that) she didn't pass the examination. 

Notas
Such as significa "por exemplo", "tais como".
Exemplo.
In that school teenagers usually engage in differente sports such as basketball, football and volleyball.

Em linguagem literária, pode=se usar so + adjetivo + a (na) + substantivo.

Exemplo.
It was such a good show that everyone wanted to see it again.
It was so a good show that everyone wanted to see it again.
